Skype calls switch sound from headset to speakers

Not sure if this is the right board for this but I couldnt find a better place so please forgive me. All my sounds play through my headset most of the time, but when I enter into a skype call, all sounds except the caller's voice are played through the speakers.

When you get on skype, it automatically takes priority. If you enter a skype call w/o a headset you notice all the sounds go quiet. If you go to your sound settings you can change what you want. Have you tried going to volume control options while skype is running to see what its doing?
