M, I can imagine it being a hard situation for you. About all you can do is go with your instincts. If you feel a wrong vibe from the guy is may be good to just leave it.

I know you would like just sex but perhaps meet up with the guy before hand, get some lunch and get to know him a bit better?

Could you elaborate on why you feel you could be raped, has it happened or nearly happened before, or simply because you are a small person who can not stand up for yourself if you truely needed to.

There is always the option of learning self defense, but I personally know that most of these self defense classes are rubbish and wouldn't work in real scenarios.
