Can a hook in an English essay be a cliche?
A hook is pretty self explanatory, engages and furthers
the readers engagement with your essay.
I have my final tommorow morning and I need this answered.
Please, be honest.

yes, it could be. a hook is something that will grab the readers attention and if it is a good cliche then it is fine in my opinion.

A hook can be anything that grabs an audience's attention. It can be a joke, an amazing fact, a cliche, or a question.
I did my eighth grade speech on drugs, and I used something along the lines of, "4 million (forgot the number) people die from drugs each year."
My mom's senior speech was on Women in History. Her hook was, "It's time for a sex change."
Use your imagination.
