Why is my favicon appearing messed up

I used: http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/
to generate my favicon and on the preview on there the icon looks good but when i upload to my site it appears really bad quality.
anyone have any idea why?

Is that what you were going off of when you said it looked 'good'?

If so, it's because that image is considerably larger than what your favicon's actual size is.

I would recommend getting someone from the Graphics section to transform your image into a favicon. I got an SF user to render a large image from my logo and turn it into a regular sized favicon for free. It's much better if a human does it, as opposed to an automatic script.

I prefer DynamicDrive.com for favicon generation. Never had a problem.

that was one i tried too and i got the same problem.
i don't know what the problem was. even if i changed image size to 16x16 and then uploaded still same result.
