I'm not sure were to incorporate a gradient though.
I'm using that size monitor as well, and I don't have a scroll bar.
You shouldn't, as the total widths when added up do not surpass
100%.

Yeah, I'm having similar issues with a site I'm making as well. My biggest concern though really is to make it look nice. I'm also trying to use 100% HTML and PHP. Though Website Tonight makes that a bit strenuous.
