They are the general people that talk about Linux and tell you you should switch to linux because there aren't any viruses for Linux.

How many times have you heard "Linux doesn't have viruses"? Seriously. This is fanboyism to the max. Before I keep rambling on, I want to make 2 things clear - 1) I don't have anything against Linux, except that I have to run it in a virtual machine since no distro has any drivers for any of my modems and 2) Yes, Linux is more secure then Windows in regards to viruses.
There is one simple way that no matter what operating system you use, unless the user is not able to access administrator privileges, there will always be viruses - not having enough knowledge about how to handle the computer. The simple fact is, if I write up a seemingly innocent program that is suppose to have a certain thing that the user wants, but I tell them they need administrator privileges to run it, especially if I tell them exactly how to do it, they will run my program with administrator privileges. This would work for most users, of course the small percentage of power users and other programmers would probably be knowledgeable enough not to do this, but does your grandmother really know any better?
If your using Linux though, you probably know not to do this.

If you continue to believe Linux is perfectly free from viruses, I pity you, its one of the biggest myths in the Linux world, its the most annoying one as well.

In fact, the reason there are more viruses for Windows than Linux is due to the fact that so many more people use Windows than Linux. As such, virus writers have realised that there is no point finding Linux security vulnerabilities and exploiting them, because hardly anyone uses Linux in comparison to Windows anyway.

Well thanks for the clarification, and no I do not believe that Linux has no viruses. No one OS or in fact any system is flawless and perfect and 100% secure. Please do not insult me.
