ProLiant ML150 G2 server help
#1
anyone else ever have problems with this series server when reinstalling windows? I cannot, for the life of me, get windows to pick up the drives when it comes time to partition them.

basically, my buddy was moving and needed to get rid of some stuff so he gave me the server..prior to trying to reinstall windows, I had booted it up and it loaded just fine to the windows login screen, but my friend asked me to wipe the drives which is fine with me!

so lets move on.....

the server has 2 sata HDD..1 is 250gb and the other is 80gb..the server uses a 4-port sata raid controller; there's no sata ports on the motherboard so it has to go through the controller...so I load into the raid controller configuration to prepare the disks. I used the smaller drive as the main drive and then mirrored it to the larger drive..I think at the end of it, the drives ended up being able to uses 74gb or so...that went fine and dandy....I then rebooted the PC and loaded into the w2k3 disc and pressed F6 to install the raid controller drivers...that seemed to go fine (it said it would load them in when windows starts to install) then continued to load files..when it got to the part where you partition the drives and format them, it returned this error:
setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer

now..I just finished setting up the array on the disks, so I know they're working..the POST shows them both, I ran spinrite on both disks and they came back 100% fine and etc...

what gives?!?!?!

I tried all of these drivers:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...dTypeId=15...

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...dTypeId=15...

HP recommend I try this method to install the raid controller drivers:

how can I load the files to a directory if windows won't even pick up the damn disks!??! seems pretty absurd to have to do all that to install 1 driver so windows recognizes the disks!

before I left for work, I delete the raid 1 array and was setting it up for raid 0, but I left my house before the array was done building so I'll have to check on that tonight

any ideas?! I'm stumped...

You would have to configure it in the setup process to enable raid controllers on the installation splash screens it says something like press f3 to load raid drivers/controllers.
I can't rmember but it is on one of the first screens when it starts unpacking the disk
