We don't really teach our pet tricks, just simple commands that are needed for proper behavior.
Sit, Stay, Lay Down, Hush, and Paw. Probably a few more, but those are the ones that I use.

Shake hands
Lay down
Sit
Treats!

I've taught my new dog how to sit. Now he thinks sitting will get him anything lol
My older dog who died could sit, lay down, rollover, and shake (we called it gimme' five :p)
He would only do these tricks for treats. My puppy will pretty much sit on command though.
My other dog who my sister has now would play with the cat if you told her to "go get the kitty". She's a pretty smart dog.
My cat will go look out the window if you tell her to "watch em'". I guess that's more of a game though. I don't think you can really teach cats tricks.
