History: Suggestions on Important People in History (Non Americans)

Hello guys. I have a history biographical essay that wants me to select one person from the history of the world, that contributed something great and they must be before the 1950s and after the 1700s. Thank You Guys, and please give me some ideas. I am out cold!

I would go with Albert Einstein if I were you. Although his is a topic most people go with, he is an extremely influential person in our history and he played a vital role in modern science.

Abraham Lincoln, he was a great man, who contributed a lot to society, and the world.

You could do any US president, it'd be easy to do so, since they are famous, and have done a lot to America (and the world).

Thomas Edison would be a good choice as well, he was an amazing scientist.
