Need some help with Vista
#11
as far as i can tell you should just have to run the .reg, restart and you're good to go. im not sure what the problem is then.. ill do some more looking.

EDIT:

Try running the .reg again.

Then reboot, and upon relogon,

Check the Remember each folder's view settings, and uncheck restore previous folder windows at logon
(and obviously, uncheck hide extensions)

hope this works Sad

Alright, I'll keep checking. So far, the things I've found @ google are quite useless :/

I've also read updating to Service Pack 2 can fix this issue.

Download that file^ and change the extension to .reg instead of .txt.

Double-click it, say yes to merging with the registry, reboot your computer.

Set folders the way you want to, and they will be remembered. Also, clicking apply to all folders would probably be a good idea, and then manually change your music/video/picture folder views as they are the only ones i have special views for personally.

I can't remember what it is about Vista that causes it to happen, I just remember that the only fix is to completely delete every trace of it and force it to start over.

Hope this helps you with your problem dude.
