can't ping self on WAN IP, can't VPN
#1
I'm trying to setup a simple home VPN so I can access some files from work. I have an E3000 running DD-WRT. I can't ping myself or VPN from outside networks. There is no AV software in the way. Here's what I've done to troubleshoot:

- Disabled all firewalls
- Ensured nothing is blocking the ping/ICMP in DD-WRT
- Rebooted (everything. numerous times. after every config change.)

I can use an internet pinging service to ping myself and get replies. I can use port checkers online and see that port 80 is open. I still can't ping myself at my WAN IP or VPN to myself from my office, a starbucks, a McDonalds, two friends offices or their houses. I have internet connection in my own network and from the other places and both friends are IT pros (somewhat) and were willing to remove all firewalls, etc. and let me plug a junk laptop directly into their internet connection to test. Still nothing. So far, we are stumped.

Any suggestions?
