How's this?
#1
I'm currently adding some parts up (not yet purchased) for a high-end, yet not too expensive, gaming computer I'm about to build.

[CPU] Intel Core i7-3820 3.60GHz (Sandy Bridge-E) Socket LGA2011 Processor - Retail
[Mobo] ASUS Rampage IV GENE Intel X79 Socket 2011 DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
[RAM] Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual/Quad Channel Kit (CMZ16GX3M4X1866C9)
[GPU] MSI GeForce GTX 580 Twin Frozr II OC 1536MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
[HDD] 3TB Seagate ST3000DM001 Barracuda 7200 SATA III Hard Drive - HDD
[PSU] 1050W Corsair HX Series 80PLUS Silver Modular Power Supply
[Case] Corsair Carbide 500R Black Midi Tower Chassis w/ USB3.0

Total = £1319.92

At a glance, does this look fine? Is there any changes I could make to improve it (without adding much more cost), etc.

Thanks in advance! Smile

Sound's pretty good!

If you wanted to bring it down, I'd go with a cheaper case. Also, where do you plan to buy these parts from. I've saved about £560 once when buying from micro direct rather than maplin Smile

Thanks for the quick reply!

Do you have any suggestions for another case? I'm looking for one with very effective cooling.

I'm buying my parts Aria. I'd never buy parts from Maplin as they're way overpriced =P

Eeyup, that's where I buy *some* my parts from!

I'm using http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Component...ctId=48197 which is a little cheaper (buy a few pounds) but is overall a good case.

Like I said, check other places like micro-direct first before you pay their prices.

Hope this helps Smile , any more discussion PM me Big Grin

Wow, that looks pretty sexy. If you've got the money I would say go for it.

If i may suggest, purchasing 2x2TB drives instead of 1x3TB drive,

I've heard somwhere that 3TB HDD's sometimes fail, besides that
good job, good high-end system.

I'm pretty sure 1050 power supply is too much.

16GB of RAM may be a little too much depending on how many programs you run and how much memory they use.

I agree with you. You should buy 2x1TB HDD's and one 60GB SSD for OS storage.

Yeah, agreed, SSD's are much much better and faster for performance,

His setup should be
1x60GB (SSD)
2x2TB (HDD)
1x 500GB (backup)
Because this is a very high-end system, i think he should have enough money to
provide such a thing.
