The installation you have is term'ed "Web installer". These are created so that you don't have to download the full installer (more bytes/larger filesize) onto your computer, which essentially saves space. It's the same way for my Subscription downloads at MSDN for most things, they give you the option to download the full setup ISO, or a web installer.
I didn't find it on the broadcom website so I'm not even sure if it's functional(was on some driver website)

They sometimes are good, but the only reliable source is from the manufacturer's website, as no other site is going to pay attention to the most updated drivers.
