Why is phpbb so bad?
#1
Well, i have a forum(www.scriptkittie.net) So i posted it on several websites and some people said phpbb is bad and others said forumotion is bad.

How come? I understand forumotion restricts you and it's not as awesome as mybb but you don't need to deal with the annoying mybb set up. And it's really not THAT bad..I mean they have quick reply, multi quote, rep system, point system, signatures, etc, etc. It's just like any other forum. I don't understand why everybody hates on it so much.

Anyways with a domain name forumotion isn't that bad. They are very secure and hard to hack into.. from what i hear.So yea forumotion does make you pay a lot for more space, but your also paying for the safety..

So what do you guys suggest? I make a mybb forum? Or should i just stay with forumotion?

If you suggest i start a mybb forum, please link me to a good mybb set up tutorial(with pictures)(dumbed down)

Forumotion has way to many restrictions and doesn't allow you to use the full potential of free forum software. I suggest using 000webhost for free hosting and using MyBB forum software. PhPBB isn't as wells designed as MyBB. MyBB has more features and is easier to use.

I would recommend the MyBB, but not free hosting. You get to many ads!

It's a marmite piece of software. It's better and worse in different aspects. It's personal preference really.

Yea but mybb is hard to set up and it costs 6.99$ a month or so which adds up fast..i bet mybb is better in the long run i guess.
Anyways i guess ill get mybb+ hosting when i get a credit card. Till than i'll using forumotion.

phpBB looks unprofessional, forumotion adds to it highly. One thing that I really despise is when you own a forum like that is there's always something in the footer saying "free forums" so it shows the owner being low quality. It may be editable, but it is on every other related forum.
