I don't think it went that slowly. It's just the perspective you're looking at it from. Anyone can look back over the years and say it's gone quickly, because from that perspective, yes it seems that way. But, for me, and probably you, life really started after the millennium. The crux of my life has passed since the millennium.

Im now 16 and i see my life go by fast, before i know it i will have annoying kids and bills. I feel like i failed this year due to the fact i didn't take my education serious and now im going to have to retake 3 classes.
