  1. Total vibe with you about jazz, man. There’s something real cool about all those unexpected twists and turns. Funny you should mention old movies, I’ve just started a Hitchcock marathon myself. Some of his stuff really stands up, you know? And olives! Ha, same boat here, mate. Swore off those little fellas for years and now I can’t imagine a pizza without them. Taste buds are weird things, aren’t they? It’s wild how it all changes. Makes life interesting though, always shaking things up. Anyway, enjoy that jazz, mate, and keep exploring those new tastes – in music, movies and munchies! Cheers.
  2. Life is a rollercoaster, isn’t it? One moment you’re enjoying the amazing view at the top, laughing uncontrollably and the next moment you’re plummeting down straight into the unknown. Living in a world full of distressing situations, uncontrollable circumstances and painful experiences make that plummet feel like forever. Be it the persisting pandemic, the constant din of politics or our own personal miseries, turmoil is bound to seep in our lives and it’s okay to feel dishevelled. Let’s try and remember, it’s fine to have bad days. Moreover, bit by bit one walks far, right? So let’s try and unwrap this, bit by bit together. I remember reading this somewhere, sadness is but a wall between two gardens. How about we knock down those bricks and plant some happy seeds in the lot behind? I’ll start, I’ll share something that helped me when I was in a rough patch. Back in the gloomy days of March 2020, when the world suddenly jumped into this eerie, unending silence, I found myself lost in the chaos. Groceries became jewels, a walk in the park seemed like a distant memory and a hug, oh a simple human hug, felt like a treasure lost. It was hard, really hard, believe me! But something changed when I stumbled upon this online forum, aptly named as ‘Calm in Chaos’. It was a 🤔
  3. Alright folks, here’s something I was pondering on while taking my old lab Buddy for his evening stroll yesterday. As a lifelong pet parent - from goldfish to gucamoles, to the more traditional cats and dogs - I get a certain satisfaction and sense of responsibility caring for these animals. They’ve always been a part of my life and honestly, I can’t imagine my life without them. But recently I had an interesting chat with a friend who is big on wildlife and outdoor activities. They can spend hours birdwatching or tracking fox footprints and find it more fulfilling as they’re observing animals in their natural habitat, behaving the way they naturally do. It got me thinking, in the animal lovers community, where do we stand? Are we team pets or team wildlife? Or can we straddle the line between both? For those on the pet side, are we depriving the animals of their natural instincts by domesticating them or providing them a safer environment than the unpredictable and sometimes harsh wild? As for the wildlife supporters, isn’t it a tad impersonal, watching from afar and not forming that bond that pet parents cherish? And what about different animals for pets? Are dogs and cats really the best house pets or are there other unexpected contenders? For wildlife enthusiasts, what’s that one wild creature you wish you could observe up close without the restrictions? As for me, while I love my Buddy, the lovable furball 🤔
  4. Hey, totally relate to the whole ‘plugged in’ thing. Had a similar experience with my fitness tracker too. It’s like this constant pressure, right? Had to ditch mine for a bit and it felt great, though I did miss the sleep tracking. Eventually made peace with using it only when I need it. Guess it’s all about striking that balance and not letting the tech dictate your life. Oh, and props for going back to an old school wristwatch - feels good to disconnect sometimes!
  5. Ya know, I’ve always been a bit intimidated by sunflowers. Seem a bit alien to me with their massive heads and all, but you’re right about them ruling over the concrete. Might give ’em a bash next planting season. And never thought about adding shredded paper to my compost. Guess there’s an end to all those junk mails after all! As for garden bots, well, more power to those who can afford ’em. But you’re right again, mate, could be a godsend for folks who can’t get down and dirty as easily. And cheaper than hiring a gardener in the long run! It’s all about making our grey cities a bit more green, innit? Happy planting!
  6. Man, I hear you. Nothin’ like the monster of debt huffing down your neck, right? I took your route and cut down on all things non-essential too. And yeah, love that whole rolling-smaller-debts-into-one trick - totally changed the game for me. Power through, man. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. Keep on keeping on.
  7. Hey, rockin’ it old school with Excel, I salute ya! I tried that once but my spreadsheet game ain’t that strong, tell ya what. Swapped over to an app called Mint for my budgeting needs. It’s a bit in-your-face with the reminders, but heck, it helps keep my spending in check! It’s all about what works for each of us, eh? And you seem to have hit your stride. Gran would be proud! But remember, it’s not just about saving the pennies - it’s about smart spending habits too. That pint you’re considering? Maybe make it a once in a while treat instead a daily ritual, stretch those savings even further. Keep up the good work!
  8. I feel ya! I was pretty skeptical about the whole wearable tech thing too. Initially felt a bit weird being plugged in all the time. But gotta admit, once I got myself an Apple Watch, it kinda grew on me. The fitness tracking and being able to leave my phone in the other room is nice. The data collection part does make me a bit edgy though, so I try to limit what info it collects. Just my two cents. Ultimately, think it comes down to personal comfort level and what you really want out of it. I say maybe give it a trial run and see how it feels?
  9. Urban gardening is the bomb, eh? Love the idea of seed bombs, it’s like giving the city a bit of unexpected green glow-up. Marigolds are a winner, not just a pretty face but a bug bouncer too, right? Robots in the garden? Ha, would miss the dirt under the fingernails too much. And let’s face it, the satisfaction of biting into a crunchy veg that you’ve raised from a seed…tech can’t replace that feeling. Keep up the earthy good work mate, we need more folks turning concrete into chard. Oh and don’t forget about composting! Can’t get better soil than that homemade black gold.
  10. I feel that, mate! Getting attached to your foster pets is the hard truth, it’s like they borrow a little part of your heart when they leave. But you know what? Those moments of pure joy when you see them going to a loving home, it’s more than worth it. Good on ya for taking care of those strays, takes some real heart to do that. Keep us updated, it helps keep the community vibes real strong. And who knows, might even inspire a lurker or two out there to give fostering a shot! Just remember, every little bit counts in making this world a bit better for our furry friends.
  11. Totally feel your pain, buddy! 🥲 I remember when I was setting up my own smart home, it was like pulling teeth! Your Alexa alarm problems are probably exactly what you’re thinking. The ‘Routines’ settings can be a bit of a maze. Took me ages to figure it out. 🔄 As for your shower tunes, could definitely be a Wi-Fi issue. I had the same problem until I installed a Wi-Fi extender. Made a world of difference. 🎶🚿 Your smart lock issue seems odd though. Lighting changes helped improve mine, but don’t forget to clean the camera lens regularly, it can get smudgy causing recognition problems. Anyway, stick with it! When you sit down at the end of the day and everything just works… priceless! 🏠✨
  12. So true - labels can be suffocating, huh? But remember, they’re more for cans of soup than they are for people. 😆 The whole identity thing’s like a river that keeps on twisting and turning. Def agree on Megan Rapinoe! Prime example of someone living their truth and stepping out in all their rainbow glory. 🌈💜 Keep doing you mate, there’s no stopwatch on self-discovery. Just remember, the only person you’re trying to please in this big ol’ world is you. Whether you’re sprinting or casually strolling through life, all paths lead you to your authentic self. Keep shining, friend!
  13. Totally see what you mean. Those little steps really do add up, don’t they? Cutting out that daily coffee shop splurge has been a game changer here too. Tracking every penny with budgeting apps has really made a difference. Ya gotta start small and build up, it’s a long road, but totally worth it in the end. One thing that helped me was setting aside a couple of hours each week to focus on my finances. Hang in there! 💪💪💪 And remember, every penny saved is a penny towards financial freedom. 🚀🚀🚀 Hang in there, it’ll all start making sense soon!
  14. I totally agree with you about the Asus Vivobook series. They strike a great balance between performance and price. Also, If gaming is a big part of the picture, you might want to check out some entry-level gaming laptops, like the Acer Nitro 5 or Lenovo Legion series. They pack a little more punch in the graphics department. And in my experience, snagging one during a sale can bring them pretty close to your budget. And as for the chip shortage, you’re right. The waiting game in tech is never-ending. It’s best to dive in when a good deal shows up. Happy laptop hunting!
  15. Mate, your post really hit home. Been there, done that. Debt’s a real bummer, ain’t it? 😕 But yknow, I found that starting with a budget really helped me get a grip. Gave Mint app a shot. Was decent, ya know? Could help you keep an eye on where the cash is going. And as for goals, totally get ya. Felt like a mountain climb at first, but things looked up once I started hitting them smaller goals. Gives you that boost, you know? 💪 So yeah, keep on truckin’ through the quicksand. We got your back here, 100%. It’s not gonna be overnight, but one day you’ll wake up and it’s all gonna be a bit lighter. Hang in there 🌈
  16. Man, you’ve hit the nail on the head with that one. Budgeting was a major game changer for me, too. Never knew where my money was going until I started tracking every penny. I’m curious though. Never heard of this “PocketGuard” app before. Might give it a shot. I’m currently using “Mint” and it’s pretty solid too. Have you tried it? And totally spot on about the baby steps, mate. My grandma used to say, “Even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. Gotta remember to apply that wisdom in every aspect of life, ain’t it? Lastly, I also wanted to mention the importance of having a rainy day fund. It’s comforting to know there’s a small stash tucked away somewhere for emergencies. Keep at it, and before you know it, you’ll have your finances singing a happy tune!
  17. Man, I feel your pain. Had to change a busted tyre myself last week due to one of these pesky potholes. It’s a nightmare! But hey, starting a petition sounds like a solid idea. Haven’t personally done it before, but if you get enough support from the locals, I bet it could make a difference. And, worst case scenario if they don’t listen, gets the conversation going, right? Count me in if you decide to do it. Let’s not just gripe but do something about it!
  18. Oh, I’ve been there! Puberty hit my son like a ton of bricks & I was about as prepared as a deer in the headlights 😵. A lot of patience, some deep breaths, and picking battles wisely seemed to do the trick for me. Also, found that acknowledging their mood swings out loud in a non-judgmental way would sometimes defuse the situation (kinda like a “I see you” thing). As for online school & work , man, it’s like a circus here with juggling stuff. What helps us is co-work time - we all sit and do our work/study together. A little solidarity goes a long way! Hang in there—it gets easier, I promise!
  19. Eesh, sounds like a tough spot, mate. Been there myself a while ago. Won’t lie, it’s gonna take some work but trust me, it’s worth it. Start by prioritizing your debts. You know, which one’s got steeper interest rates, those are the ones you wanna tackle first. And about budgets not really working, have you tried using apps or something so that it’s automated to an extent? I used one, helped keep my spending in check. Crucial part is sticking to it though. Lastly, it may not feel like it right now, but remember you’re not alone in this. So many of us have been there, don’t be afraid to seek advice. You got this! 🤜🤛
  20. Oh man, I feel you. Lockdown homeschooling has been quite the ride! What worked for me was setting a consistent schedule (with breaks!) which gave my kids and me a sense of routine. As for focusing on your work, maybe you can allocate “quiet time” for both of you? And don’t sweat the small stuff! Kids are resilient and will pick up lost ground once they’re back to school. It’s a weird time for everyone, so it’s ok to cut yourself some slack. You’re doing great. And hey, maybe throw in a game of Fortnite with them now and then? It could be a fun bonding time! Stay strong, you’re not alone in this.
  21. Totally with you on the foldable phones bit! It’s like we’re living in some sci-fi movie! And yeah, I think the day we can put our chargers away for a week is still a bit down the road, haha. Talking about the glass screens, I still got a heart attack every time my phone slips. Those Gorilla glass ads might as well be horror movies to me! But maybe it’s high time we get rocking those phones with plastic or whatever non-fragile stuff soon. Can’t wait to live in that stress-free world! Oh, and btw, OnePlus 9 warp charge is a game changer, for real.
  22. So…anyone else have this running battle with their kiddo? Shopping trips have turned into a mine-field. Little ones throwing massive wobblers in the middle of the biscuit aisle because we’ve said “no” to third packet of high-sugar, overpriced junk, and instead opted for some much healthier snacks. Nothing like a dramatic meltdown at ALDI to make that shopping trip 10 times more stressful, right? 🙂 I’ve been there with my four-year-old. She used to be as calm as a sleeping kitten. But now? Turned into an opinionated, wilful drama queen who can kick up a storm when she doesn’t get her way. I’ve read all those parenting books, the ones promising golden insights to dealing with tantrums…but let’s face it. When your kiddo is in the middle of a scream-fest right beside the cucumbers, all that advice just flies outta your head. I’ve tried distractions, bribes (don’t judge, we all have those desperate moments), sternness, you name it…few times I’ve even left the shopping cart and walked out. Stifling those tears until I’ve got home and could let it all out. It’s just that immense feeling of frustration…and embarrassment? Should we even feel embarrassed though? It’s not like we’re the first parents facing this. How do you all manage 🤔
  23. Wow, couldn’t agree more. When I lost my job, I felt like the rug was pulled out from under me. But like you said, sometimes reaching out is the best thing to do, even if it scares the hell out of us. And you’re so right about finding support in odd places, my mailman actually gave me some of the best advice I’ve ever received - don’t stress about things that aren’t within your control. So let’s all keep chasing those open doors, right? Life’s a rollercoaster, it can only go up from here! 💪🚀
  24. Ah, tell me about it! Constant construction noise can really get on your nerves. Good call on the white noise machine, though it might not completely drown out everything. Have you tried some noise-canceling headphones? They’re a little pricey, but a life-saver for situations like this. And definitely, always check the local noise ordinances, because who wants to be woken up by jackhammers?! Speaking from experience, a politely worded conversation with the site manager can sometimes help too. Just explain your situation and they might be able to do something, like starting the noisy work a bit later. Worth a shot! Hang in there, buddy.
  25. Totally get what you’re saying. None of these phones are “the best” for everyone. I went with the Pixel 5 myself and I’ve been loving it - the software has this simplicity, you know? But yeah, when it comes to raw power, hard to beat the S21. And oh boy, don’t get me started on the camera quality on the iPhone 12 Pro Max, it’s like having a DSLR with you all the time. End of the day, all that’s on paper. The feel is only when you start clicking! So go get a hands-on experience and see which one you vibe with. Happy shopping, mate!
