But I do not understand ... do you plan to make a new thread for all new members? Why not just a big "Welcome to you, new member of this site"?

Yes, we plan to make Welcome threads to ALL new users.
Usually we have a modification on this board that does it automaticly, but at the moment it is not working, so until we get it working, we'll have to do it manually!
