Another Open-Source Forum: Vanilla (PHP) - Eve - 06-22-2010

Vanilla is a forum software created by Mark O'Sullivan in 2005, using a PHP development framework with a MySQL database. Forum style for Vanilla is extremely simple and its features are mainly functional, not ornamental. Active threads are listed as the main body of the forum and categories are listed in a sidebar. To download Vanilla, visit http://vanillaforums.org/get/Vanilla

Examples:

OpenDNS Community, support for OpenDNS.
Zotero Forums, support for a Firefox extension.
Ubuntu Satanic, support for a Linux distribution.
Yay Hooray, for art and off-topic discussions.
Fazy Luckers, for art and design discussions.
Macristocracy, for Apple-based theme releases.

New forums are presented better, as attention is given to the latest posts and not an empty starter forum.
Read about Vanilla features, browse their community and consider the free subdomain to test the software.

Fivebean has a nice Vanilla implementation: http://forum.fivebean.com/

I prefer PunBB for simple forums, though.

Looks nice, don't think I've ever been on a Vanilla forum before, I will try it out a bit later, I had to Google for a download link though.

Here's the download link for anyone who wants to try it in there own environment http://vanillaforums.org/get/Vanilla
