64 bit vs 32 bit - D3N - 10-04-2009 There is a lot of discussion and debates about which one is better. Some say 64 bit, because it's faster, others say it's 32 bit because not all programs are available for a 64 bit version. Which one do you run, and why? RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - Fallen - 10-04-2009 I would run 64 bit because it is becoming much more prevelant RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - Raptor Jesus - 10-04-2009 64 bit allows you to have more hardware. 32 bit is limited to 4 gigs of ram. RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - Alex - 10-04-2009 I agree with 64bit being the future of everything. However many linux programs aren't stable on it yet. It caused minor issues with me before I switched back to windows because of them. RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - Gone - 10-04-2009 Alex not just programs, the os itself isn't stable. It isn't as good as 32, and you can easily add more ram if you know what you are doing ;) RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - SMITHY558 - 10-05-2009 After having run both I would say I prefer 64-bit because it sees my full 4gb of RAM. RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - St0rmW1nd - 10-05-2009 64 bit is suppose to be faster but it has a lot of incompatibility. Am i the only one who else has issues with 64 bit linux? I have no issues putting more then 4 gigs in but this i do. Never tried Linux on 64 Bit, I use Windows 64 bit. RE: 64 bit vs 32 bit - Gone - 10-05-2009 Windows 64 works relativity well, but i can't get anything to work straight in linux 64 bit. |
