Oily Touchpad - Explosions Hurt - 04-09-2010 I have been using my laptop for quite a while and the touchpad (mouse) looks a bit oily? Can anyone advise a safe way to clean this? Thanks RE: Oily Touchpad - hockeynut35 - 04-09-2010 A damp paper towel should suffice. Exactly what I do every month when its time to clean this greasy laptop RE: Oily Touchpad - RRespect - 04-09-2010 Maybe using a paper towel would help. RE: Oily Touchpad - Shadow Soul - 04-09-2010 If it just "looks" oily, or if you mean shiny then you can't clean it. Well I myself have a silverish color touchpad which looks greasy, but its really not. Don't know his situation. I suggest using tissue paper as a damp towel can penetrate the membrane of the touchpad. RE: Oily Touchpad - majordave - 04-11-2010 Depends on the touchpad. Most of mine are metal, so there's no membrane. I use paper towels and windex to clean mine, along with cleaning the screen. RE: Oily Touchpad - T0x1c - 04-11-2010 I agree with the members above, a paper towel will work just fine. RE: Oily Touchpad - Heli0s - 04-12-2010 If it's oily, water might just spread it out a little bit and won't really remove it. I suggest you dampen a cotton ball with a little rubbing alcohol and brush the pad in a circular motion for a few seconds. Make sure you cover the entire pad. Don't bother drying it out yourself. The alcohol will evaporate on it's own, you just have to let it sit for a few minutes. Since our skin secretes natural oil, that's probably what it's from. If the problem keeps reoccurring, you might want to wash your hands each time before using your laptop. |
