My computer says it has a lot more on it than it does... Help :( - nevets04 - 04-07-2010

I have only downloaded three things on this mac and now when I try to update, I don't have enough space. This confuses me. I deleted everything from "All documents", which freed up about 1 GB. But now it seems there is 290 GB of things hiding from me. Here is a picture if it helps.

It might be a virus or such?

How can I check to see if its a virus?

You're on a Mac, the chance of it being a virus is very low.
Install DaisyDisk, it'll give you a visual representation of any storage medium of your choosing, and this should help with finding out where all your space has gone.

I was just about to say. An iMacs probability of getting a virus is extremely low. Please read the thread before posting answers like that.
