Suggestion to keep your computer running smoothly. - Yin - 04-05-2010

I suggest you do a HiJackThis checkup every 2-3 weeks or even every week if you're downloading stuff. Viruses can slow down your computer, and take vital information which we don't want to happen.

They can be at any anaylzer forum, (here, HF, bleeping, techsupport, etc) and it's always good to just check to remove infections if you have them.

Another good thing to do would be running regular scans with your anti-virus, anti-malware and anti-spyware products. Using this wide array of products could detect most notorious infections that could be present on your computer.

I keep my laptop cooled all the time, I notice when it slows down a bit and i get suspicious, So i check around to make sure im not infected or anything, I like to use ccleaner from time to time to remove all the unnecessary temp files.

Unrelated to virus scans i find it very helpful to defragment my disk once a month

Also, check your MSConfig for any odd things at startup.

I recommend only keeping your anti-virus enabled on startup.

That's right.

Also, yeah check MSConfig. I do that quite often too.

HiJackThis can display this information in the log it produces. Oui

However, only having your anti-virus enabled at start-up would be disastrous. I presume you meant keeping critical system files enabled on start-up as well as your anti-virus. Big Grin

Yeah, HJT lists your running processes, so with a HJT log it does do that.

However you can never instruct nor entrust a novice with that.
