Avatar error message - UID=0 - 10-07-2009 Hello. I'm hoping that this is the right place to post this. Apologies if not. I have had some problems, trying to get my avatar to run as it should, The first thing that I tried, was the following, as I thought it would be based upon BBCode here. h-t-t-p://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx184/EyeSeeIt/Interference/BlueFerence1c.gif without the included dashes between the letters, and also, beginning with [img] and ending with [/img]. Just like it is at HF, which previews just fine in posts here, but then I get the following error message, when pressing the Change Avatar button. Please correct the following errors before continuing: * The URL you entered for your avatar does not appear to be valid. Please ensure you enter a valid URL. I tried all combinations, knowing that they probably wouldn't work here anyway, including: [img src= <img src= [url= [url= <a href= I also tried: http://i754.photobucket.com/albums/xx184/EyeSeeIt/Interference/BlueFerence1c.gif without the BBCode square brackets. I think that's about it, yet still no go. I had to upload my avatar from my PC in the end, but it is displaying as a still image, when the orignal image is a simple animation. If anybody could point me in the right direction about this, I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance for any help. RE: Avatar error message - Conan - 10-08-2009 were it says avatar URL put this http://www.photobucket.com/albums/xx184/EyeSeeIt/Interference/BlueFerence1c.gif RE: Avatar error message - Quintus - 10-08-2009 As mentioned it is not working. Shows this error message: RE: Avatar error message - Headshot - 10-08-2009 Maybe you should try uploading it like Paradoxum did? RE: Avatar error message - Tasemu - 10-08-2009 yer upload it manually, that way nuthin can go wrong (theoretically, i mean a car could go through your wall). RE: Avatar error message - Butters - 10-08-2009 I had the same problem but I just saved the picture on my computer then I renamed the file extension to gif and it worked perfectly... Try this again: Thanks, wow, it works for you! I am on a really slooow proxy right now, as my VPN is down until tomorrow. I just tried saving that.gif from here, as going to Photobucket, would have slowed my PC right down, it's taking ages for the page to refresh, but after uploading that very simple animated file there, all of 3 frames, it still displays as a static shot for me, so I really don't know why it is doing that. I'll try again later from Photobucket, but I can't see it being any different, although I hope it is. Thanks again. RE: Avatar error message - Skill - 10-09-2009 AntiVirMan, your avatar looks as though it is working to me. It;s the exact same .gif I use at HF, and it works there, with thec BBCode link, but not here, I have no idea why not. I mean I see your version working as it should, just cycling through those 3 frames, yet mine is just 1 frame. So you see it working from where you are then? If so that's great! I'll just have to accept I can't see it from here, which always leaves a little room for doubt in my mind, if I can't see it for myself, Although I don't doubt what you say, I just tried uploading it again, after what you said there. Thamks again. (10-08-2009, 06:16 PM)Butters Wrote: I had the same problem but I just saved the picture on my computer then I renamed the file extension to gif and it worked perfectly... Renamed it? It was a.gif to begin with though, what did it save as for you? Heh, yeah like that berry character, for that drink, on Family Guy, who says 'Oh yeah'! RE: Avatar error message - Quintus - 10-09-2009 It is working fine now. I'll have mine changed. |
