No, you can't buy something through Paypal if you don't have a paypal account.

Looks like you don't have to have one anymore as long as you are willing to pay with a credit card.

It depends, what is the item you're buying? Does it only have a BUY THROUGH PAYPAL option? Or can you do through credit card? And if you have a credit card, then couldn't you just make a PayPal account?

I'm pretty sure that you can buy using PayPal without a PayPal account, from what I remember I've done it before.
