Building a new computer..How's This? - Nemmyy - 01-02-2010 I'm Looking to build a new system (my first attempt), so tell me how this looks! I'm open to any suggestions. My budget is around $400, preferably less. I'm planning on installing Windows 7, probably 64 bit because i think the CPU can handle that and I hear it's better. Also, I am not a PC Gamer, but maybe I'll start? Anyways, here it goes...hopefully I'm not missing anything & help me out please CPU AMD Phenom X4 9750 Quad Core Processor This Processor comes bundled with my Motherboard here CPU Cooler ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro Rev.2 92mm Fluid Dynamic CPU Cooler Motherboard Biostar TA790GXE Motherboard Memory Wintec AMP-X Dual Channel (2 x 2 GB) - 240-pin - DDR2 - 800 MHz / PC2-6400 Computer Case LOGISYS Computer Area 51 CS51WBK Black Steel ATX Mid Tower - 480W PSU Video/Sound Card EDIT AGAIN: here's a different video card I picked out, this one supports CrossFireX with my motherboard Pretty sure the motherboard has built in sound, so no card is needed. XFX HD-435X-YAH2 Radeon HD 4350 512MB 64-bit GDDR2 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Low Profile Ready Video Card The motherboard has integrated video and supports ATI Hybrid Crossfire, so i picked this, but do I really need a video card? I don't think I have an HD monitor anyways, so idk if this is needed. Hard Drive I already have a SATA 500 Gb Caviar Blue from Western Digital DVD Drive I already have a 22x SATA LG GH22 Super Multi DVD Rewriter This all totals to $339. So how'd I do? RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - WMM - 01-02-2010 Yea looks like you will have a nice computer wish I could have it =) RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - Cyb3rc0de - 01-02-2010 I think you must upgrade to motherboard using DDR3. Because DDR3 have been out long time. DDR2 is very old. RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - Nemmyy - 01-03-2010 thanks, and yea, i was thinking about that too Cyb3rc0de RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - Canoris - 01-03-2010 LOL, you're going to put Windows7 on there? OK. So what made you want to compile your own computer? RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - lil PopTart kid - 01-03-2010 DDR3 hasn't been out that long and DDR2 isn't that bad. But if you can find a good price for some DDR3 its worth it all the way. Even if you pay a little extra its better then buying DDR2 and upgrading in 2 years. RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - Mozz - 01-04-2010 Very Very nice, but if i had them, i would have to have he best "Sound Blaster Live" Sound card going lol cause of a program i use, "Cubase SX" for producing music ;) Nice setup there! RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - bloodrain2011 - 01-04-2010 what do you plan on doing with this anyway? And if you plan to Overclock your CPU you prolly might want to throw in a 120mm fan or 2 to keep it cool. RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - IllusionSlayer - 01-11-2010 DDR3 and DDR2 Price difference is very small these days but the performance is much greater with ddr3 The Phenom x4 is a slug compared to the Phenom II X4. RE: Building a new computer..How's This? - JFCode - 12-21-2010 DDR3 is worth the extra money. I would suggest upgrading |
