Two Video Cards, which is better? - heretician - 12-18-2009

That is the comparison. Although on the right, it shows a slightly different card than mine, it has gold all over it; even the fan is painted gold.

the x1600 is only DX9.0 and the geforce 8400 GS is DX10 -- I just bought the 8400 and now I am regretting it..

Could anyone who knows quite a bit about video cards tell me which I should keep?

Aww please someone help, I need to know if I should replace this crap

-- After testing my new GeForce with Dirt 2, it does seem SLIGHTLY slower, but it may just be a placebo of me thinking my old video card is worse. I even bought a DVI cable for this new video card.. The GeForce is like 3 years newer than the x1600, can it possibly still be worse? I mean even the framing on the x1600 is messed; but it still plays my games.

The 8400gs has pixel shader model of 4, while x1600 has 3, they both have nearly same core speed and wouldn't look at speed in this case, they both have 512 mb of video ram. The release date of 8400gs is on 2007 and newer than x1600. 8400gs has HD technology which is an advance. SO, in terms of specifications i find 8400gs is better. And in terms of performance and practical use have no idea because i never used these two cards before, i still have an old ati driver.

I prefer NVIDIA Big Grin. First because card drivers are often updated. Two if you want to buy 2 for SLI i recommend you buy one having the option to buy another whenever you want. For gaming and video FULL HD ?? a personal opinion:NVIDIA.

NVIDIA would be the way to go.

ATi Radeon X1600 Pro PCI-E

Why will you get GeForce 8400..

The cheapest you wanna get is GeForce 9500GT

A agree with upgrading to a higher NVIDIA card. It isn't much out of the way. However, if on a budget what he has picked between the two will do.

First of all, how money do you want to spend? And I recommend to you the NVIDIA SERIES 9XXX

I have the 8400GS in my second rig, it was my main card, it can run CSS and The Sims 3 pretty easily.

For play games as Sims are Ok but for graphical histories as GTA4, crysis you won't enjoy Bebe-pleure
