Making a text reflection - Jordan L. - 11-23-2009

Hey, today I'll show you how to add a reflection to your text.

Final result:
Step 1.
Open a new document, as big or as small as you want, and write your text. It is reccomended that you use Black colour for the text, as it is easier to reflect. [You can always change the colour later!]

Step 2.
Duplicate the text layer [Ctrl + J], and move it beneath the original text. Then go to [i]Edit -> Transform -> Flip Vertical, this will make the reflected text go upside down.

Step 3.
On the layers option, click on "Add Vector Mask"; the little Square with the Circle in side it. You will see a little white square next to your layer if you have done this right.

Step 4.
Have black set as your Foreground Colour, and choose the gradient tool. Set the gradient setting to Foreground to Transparent option. [Second selection if you have the default Photoshop Settings.]

Step 5.
Drag the gradient from the bottom of the reflection text to the top of it. Do this until you are happy with the result. Then change the opacity of the layer to whatever you like best.

Step 6.
Add any background effects or text effects as you want, for this tut I just kept is simple and left the background and text alone.

Sorry for the crappy tut, I'm not too good at reflections yet, and this is the easiest way I know how to.
Thanks, hope this helped!

Nice tutorial but the pictures are broken Sad It's a little bit hard to try following a guide without any pictures. It would be great if you could fix that Big Grin Thanks for sharing.
