It is a waste.
It could have been used to benefit mankind, but no. The creator had to use it for that purpose. In fact, I bet he/she could sell it for a load of money.

Often times these type of domains are for sale and the sellers doesn't advertise this fact. For legal reasons regarding trademark laws they place something benign on the domain to ensure it's not breaking the TM of another entity.
So while it may be a waste it's a smart move by the domain holder.
