I think I have a virus - Swaganomics - 09-06-2011

My computer is bogging down on me randomly. I've tried restarting, looking at my processes, looking in critical places. But I have yet to find anything. Also I have Kaspersky and that hasn't found anything? Any suggestions?

Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Then run a full scan and remove any malicious material it finds.

If the problems still persist, I advise visiting the White Hat section of HackForums and requesting a member of the HJT team guide you through the infection removal process. Their services are free.

If you want a review that isn't based off OTL, or HiJackThis logs, I would suggest that you check your Event Viewer for any critical errors or warnings. Check your hard drive for any corrupted sectors or errors. Check the fragmented level (%) on your hard drive as well, and if it's more than 7-10% do a Defrag. Make sure that any unnecessary services aren't running or unnecessary applications that get started from startup.

Also, how about your PC specs?
-Total RAM (virtual/installed)
-CPU

Hope you get your computer back up and running to speed again.

Yeah, I already had Malwarebytes and that didn't find anything. I'll probably post in the whitehat section.

Did you check the other things I mentioned though? No errors

I looked in Event viewer however I don't know what fragmented level is.

Run this in cmd prompt and you can pass arguments directly to defrag.exe

Code:
defrag C: /a

"C:" being the drive you want to analyze. You can change that to whatever drive you want to check.

Defragging C drive now

RE: I think I have a virus - AceInfinity - 09-07-2011

That wasn't a command for defragging, that was just the command to check, but if you were ranging from 7-10% then you should do a defrag.
