Don't let the disease dishearten you - Rasco - 08-20-2011 Cassius Clay, better known as Muhammed Ali, was always inspirational to people around the world, be it on the boxing ring or the arena of life. He remained so, when he won the gold in 1960 Olympics, or when refused to participate in the Vietnam War in 1967. So when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1984, people from all over the world lamented over the health condition of the greatest boxer. But it was another opportunity that life offered him to emerge inspirational to others, and he elegantly carried out that responsibility. The disease, which damaged the patient's central nervous system, could not affect the spirit and attitude of this great human being. In spite of all the physical difficulties caused by the disease, Muhammed Ali is very much in the public arena. He is still attending sports and social events as a prominent guest and inspiring everyone, especially the sports persons and the Parkinson's disease affected people, around the world. The living example of Muhammed Ali stands in testimony of the fact that though dangerous and very serious, Parkinson's disease cannot wipe out the social and professional life of a person. They can still be active and the various medicinal systems including allopathy, Ayurveda and other alternative healthcare systems can be of support to the patients to an extent. Among these, parkinson's ayurvedic treatment seems to be more effective and this Ayurvedic treatment, using various herbal medicines, has a history of thousands of years to boast off. |
