My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - Skyset - 07-12-2011 Hello SF. I tried getting an answer over at HF but I think I'll get a better one over here. My GPU is always warm for some reason. It lies on steady 78-79 degrees Celsius. It still works fine, but my problem is my CPU. When I have Chrome, MSN and Steam running, this is how it looks like: Then I start the League of Legends launcher, and BAM!: What I have tried: - Cleaned my computer from dust (vacuum cleaning). - Checked the fans, they are all working, and one of them sounds like a jet plane nowadays for some reason. - Reinstalled Windows, it's all clean but there's no difference. When the temperature raises this much, my computer just freezes and I have to reset it on the power button. A friend of mine said it could be a memory (RAM) problem too, but I think it's connected to the high temperatures my CPU get since it always freezes when that raises. Anyone know what I should do? Thanks in advance. - Skyset RE: My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - Pulse - 07-12-2011 Be re-installing Windows, do you mean you you've just re-installed the operating system itself, including the previous files? If yes, your computer might need a disk clean-up. Have you tried defragment/miscellaneous internal device cleaning? Check the task manager. Processes > Mem CPU Usage > Close the programs that take the most CPU Usage - be sure it's being ran by a username within the computer's directories. What is your system's specific operating information? By this I mean include the MHz, 32/64bit architecture, RAM, video cards, etc. RE: My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - Skyset - 07-12-2011 I formatted all my harddrives and installed a fresh version of Windows. System Idle Process is the only one taking alot of CPU (of course). OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 CPU: AMD Phenom X3 8650 2.30GHz RAM: 4 GB DDR2 @ 402MHz Motherboard: NF-MCP61 (Socket AM2) Video card: 512MB GeForce 8800GT As I said in my post, I've had this computer for 3 years and it has worked really fine until like a week ago when this started happening. Also, when I'm doing something like saving a Photoshop work, it takes about one minute and then I hear a sound from the computer, like something "starts up", and then it saves the file. It feels like the CPU is totally fried. - Skyset RE: My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - j525548 - 07-12-2011 renove your processor fan, clean it very well deeply into the heatsink. then apply some cooling paste between the fan and the processor. you will get this in any computer hardware shop. It worked 4 me, hope this will work 4 u too. Thank you! Thanks. I will try that, else I could also try to buy a new processor cooler. I'm thinking of buying the H50 (water cooler). - Skyset RE: My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - Relapse - 07-13-2011 (07-12-2011, 05:47 PM)j525548 Wrote: renove your processor fan, clean it very well deeply into the heatsink. then apply some cooling paste between the fan and the processor. you will get this in any computer hardware shop. Yea this should get the job done RE: My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - Don Corleone - 07-14-2011 (07-12-2011, 09:02 AM)Skyset Wrote: Hello SF. Get system mechanic and try that. That program always fixes all the problems with my PC. It modifies other programs so they don't overwork the CPU. There might be some problesm with you PC causing your CPU to work harder. You might have to many background programs running also that you don't even realize are running. RE: My CPU & GPU gets overheated really easily [Computer freezing] - [M] - 03-02-2012 Do you have thermal paste on your CPU? Although it looks more like a GPU problem...hm...you can try using the integrated graphics if you have? Or another GPU... |
