Exam Help / Revision - Paddy - 06-05-2011

Can anyone give me some revision tips? I'm expected to get A's and B's in my GCSE's but when I revise, nothing ever sticks in my head! Sad

Much appreciated.

simplifying algebra
stem &leaf diagram
Alternate/supplementary/corresponding angles
distance time graph
translation/reflection/rotation/enlargement
ratio
frequency polygons/histograms
areas/perimeters of shapes
basic multiplication/division
estimation
fraction=multiplying/dividing/subracting/adding
interior/exterior angles of shapes
questionnaires
y=mx+c/quadratic/cubic graphs
HCF/LCM
factorising/expanding quadratics
similar shapes
expressions that represent volume/area/length
simultaneous equations
cumulative frequency
indices
probability

might come up, go on mymaths.co.uk (if your school has it) and revise it, I got a login for it.

Rewrite your notes with color and pictures.

I heard that works but it never sticks in my head!

1. study in conditions that are similar to your test taking conditions.
this will help recall what you've studied a bit easier during the exam
2. teach what you've studied to someone
you retain 80% of what you successfully taught to someone
3. take power naps
the brain sorts and groups information in your sleep
4. repetition: do more problems, write lines if you need to
it helps strengthens the synapses between neurons increasing the speed and accuracy of recall

good luck Smile
