My thought on netbooks - ImFocuzz - 03-22-2011 Most people give netbooks a bad review but I think personally that they are great computers if you use them for the right purposes. I had a netbook for 2 days it crashed....haha but it was a very bad one. By Intel netbooks with a lot of ram and HD space. AMD Processors do not go good with netbooks. RE: My thought on netbooks - Fragma - 03-22-2011 I have an Alienware M11X and it's just what I was needing... It's powerful enough for me to do graphics & animation which is what I use it for most, and it's also incredibly small & light meaning I can take it around with me extremely easily. I take it to college everyday in my bag, and have easily enough room for my sketch book, module briefs & various handouts, yet it doesn't feel heavy at all. A lot of people slate Alienware, and I can see why for some of there other products, but if you're looking for a powerful netbook, then the M11X really is a beauty. RE: My thought on netbooks - ImFocuzz - 03-22-2011 YEa man THats what I think I hate when be generalize netbooks. How much did it cost I need a Alienware to do website/programming development on? How much did it cost I need a Alienware to do website/programming development on? I think it cost me around the £700 mark, ($1150), which although is quite expensive, I had some spare cash lying around so didn't mind to much. And it was totally worth every penny in my opinion. The only upgrade I made was 2GB RAM to 4GB. RE: My thought on netbooks - Nemmyy - 03-22-2011 (03-22-2011, 02:27 PM)Fragma Wrote: I have an Alienware M11X and it's just what I was needing... I thought they only make laptops. RE: My thought on netbooks - ImFocuzz - 03-22-2011 naw they make notebooks! Awesome ones too! But then what is the definition of a netbook? I assumed they were just really small laptops. Although I just checked Wikipedia and it says price, size & power is taken into account, which would rule the M11X out of that category. But it doesn't feel right calling it a laptop due to it's size, and lack of basic laptop features such as a CD/DVD drive, and external volume control. I guess it would fall under the Notebook category a little better. RE: My thought on netbooks - ImFocuzz - 03-22-2011 Yea like at school we have Windows 7 dell's that are netbooks but they run like a laptop! Faster then my desktop but I am updating it to a i7 . RE: My thought on netbooks - Splodge0007 - 03-26-2011 It's a netbook. It's simply designed for browsing the internet. If it can do that simply enough, I can't see how they get bad reviews. RE: My thought on netbooks - Alex Last - 03-26-2011 I just bought a dell inspiron mini 1018, which will be arriving in 2 days. I'll be booting ubuntu netbook and tell you what I think. Will be using it for web surfing and managing, servers/sites when I'm chilling. |
