(I don't really see what's so great about rep!) Rep's given by other members (here with 100+ posts) for various reasons. Check out more info about "rep abuse" - it's pretty clear how you can and cannot get rep.

And about reputation. It is given to you by members who have ability to do so and reputation is other member opinion about you whether it is negative or positive. Also asking for reputation is not allowed here and is considered as Rep-abuse, so watch out posting that kind of things where you are asking for reputation.
