10-25-10 severe weather - Xander - 10-24-2010 This photo shows the intensity of the precipitation around the time of the touchdown. This photo shows the base velocity of the storm, which basically is the wind direction, red means the wind is moving away from the radar and green moves the wind is moving towards the radar, when you have the red and greens touching, you have the chance of rotation, as the colors start to get darker, the rotation is growing stronger. Here is the funnel cloud, as you can see, it's a very large elephant trunk tornado forming. Here is another shot of the funnel. This is the shot of the tornado, you can see the debris flying in the air, the tornado just destroyed a mobile home community and a school, it's in the process of crossing the interstate where it's overturning multiple cars and trapping many people within their cars. Here you can see the tornado starting to weaken, it's very photogenic. Here is a photo of the tornado from a farther away view, you can see the rotating wall cloud and the very well defined elephant trunk shape. Here is the photo of the school the tornado destroyed. Image limitations are teh fail. ): And here are some random photos of the day. This photo shows all of the tornado warnings at once, there was about 10 counties under tornado warnings at the same time. If anyone ever asks me why I chase, I'll show them this photo, and I'm sure it doesn't do justice to the beauty of this moment, you go from a devastating weather phenomena, to a beautiful scene within minutes. Here is a truly eerie photo of the sky. At the same time, another chaser was seeing this, keep in mind that this is the exact same time, same timezone, and it should of been the same lighting. Here's something I caught with EXTREME luck, how often do you hear of lightning being photographed without taking a photo every second?
