i would say:
Desktop: for highend gaming, hacking and testing
Laptop: work wateva the case i would only use a laptop for working on

I will be preferring a Laptop instead of a pc.Because as the time is going on there is no craze for the Desktop.Now you must have a laptop because in the coming work you may work in any Company and living abroad so you cannot carry you Desktop ,In that case Laptop will be a good choice.

well, i have never really used a desktop since before i got smart with computers. i started getting good with computers when i got my own laptop. i suppose a desktop would be good to. but a laptop can be just as good with portability.
