My new Sony laptop has 8 gigs of ram, along with a core i7 processor -- it screams! With Geforce 310M graphics, it can run just any any gaming application, even Crysis! Which I tested on high, and it ran without any lag.
And for under a grand? A laptop with that type of performance ran over double that just a year ago. So I consider it a fairly good value, especially for a Sony which also has more than double the reliability rating of HPs and Acers.

Sony Vaio is my favourite, out of all of those which I have tried.
