I have a couple consoles, but I only really play the Nintendo 64. The rest, only my brother plays. I prefer PC. No aim assist, it's cheaper in the long run, and more games.

What if I don't get Skyrim because I want to save my money and buy my girlfriend a present? Or buy myself something that I enjoy more than Skyrim?
Philly I might not have much games to recommend to you, i'm more of the horror game guy, and the action adventure type with games like Bioshock and all that.

Bust out Nethack, ignore the graphics (or lack of) and give it a shot, it might not look like much but you might like it. If your looking for something more modern, Bioshock (mentioned by AceInfinity) is probably my favourite shooter of the past 5 years at least (weird to think that 5 years ago it was 2007, doesn't seem that long ago). A friend of mine picked it up pre-owned for £2 at some pawn-broker like shop, at a price like that you should really give it a go. There's also a sequel that I enjoyed (less so that the original however) that has multiplayer, but you should play Bioshock for the story-telling as well as the action, and for that reason I'd play the original first.
