Do not do it over the phone or the internet. Talking to her in person is always the best option.
You should make sure that you are already close to her before revealing your feelings.

I would just ask her. I do it all of the time. I know you said you don't want to but the worst thing to happen is she says no. Better than you having to wonder about it. Just my advise. Take it as you choose. Have a good day.
