Seems nice. Good job.

I like it, and it looks pretty smooth IMO. I like the idea for it aswell, except I don't like how that grey thing near the bottom right looks like it shouldn't be there.

RE: [RATE] Black and White - Fragma - 01-14-2011

Pretty boring to be honest.

Not much going on. The 3D renders look a bit dull and boring and don't really flow very well. They seem a bit randomly placed underneath the girl.

The dots don't add much either, if anything they actually look quite annoying.

You need to work on a few things:

- Signature dimensions. It's to big and wide, which doesn't go well with the actual image.
- Needs way more depth. Its very flat at the minute and the shades of grey are quite simple and plain.
- Use different 3D renders. The ones you currently have don't flatter the girl at all. Perhaps more liquid like renders, something with a bit more flow.
- Composition. At the minute, the focal point is the girl, to the right of the signature, but there's a lot of empty space to the left, this is also down to your dimensions. Maybe center the girl, and work in and around her.
- Colours. Yes greyscale can sometimes look really effective, but in this case, I don't think it does your image many favours.
This will also allow you to experiment more with your 3D renders, and your dots won't look so out of place.
- Text. At the minute, the font you've used is very boring. Try being a bit more experimental.
- Border. This particular image doesn't really suit the current border you have. Try just a simple thicker border going all the way around.

I like how this looks. Very nice.

RE: [RATE] Black and White - Buzz Lightyear - 01-14-2011

Thanks. I didn't resize it. This is not meant to be a signature at all however. Honestly though, the depth is fine. It is not flat. I agree about the C4D's. I can't seem to find many good ones in my 5GB collection of them. I purposely made the font boring. I didn't mean to make fancy. I actually don't think it needs a border imo. Thicker borders look bad on almost all things. The original colors were really bad, so I switched it to black and white.

RE: [RATE] Black and White - AceInfinity - 01-14-2011

I personally never add a border to my works really. I don't know why people even suggest them, I agree they make things look good on a website because of a dividing line from the website's background to give contrast. But they have nothing to do with the actual image itself. So I reject all of the advice given by people about that, unless I want to make a fancy border as part of my image, that isn't just a plain solid line around my image.

Maybe a border as a set of images and designs..

A tutorial would be nice. Try burning the bottom left corner a little.

RE: [RATE] Black and White - AceInfinity - 01-14-2011

The gradient across the left side makes the image look like it's split in two as well, along with the blur, so I wouldn't have it that dark on that side. It makes the image look "pieced" apart. Forgot to add that earlier.

A simple black border can look very effective on most greyscale images.
Although I wouldn't recommend using one for colour images.

There is absolutely no gradients on this...

But I agree with Fragma. Simple borders can look good, but they can look bad as well.
