First get to the know the girl. From past expirences, doing that is very important. It will make the relationship last.
Then when your ready and alone with the girl, tell her you like her and ask her out. Try practicing before hand to a wall or something. It helps.

Talk to her , get to know her a little. Make sure she likes you first, don't wanna go and rush things. Talk to her in class, be funny, girls find that a great factor in a guy. Then, after you guys stop laughing off of something, say " Hey, you gotta phone?" she would most likely say yes,, then say " Could I have your number?" .
