Linux virus'? - Iris - 02-11-2011

Alright, Ive been thinking of turning my laptop into a coding zone.
I've been told Linux is the best OS for it? Is that true?

I found a long list of why Linux is better then Windows Seven operating systems. It said no virus. Is that true?
Im pretty sure its possible to get a virus on practically anything.

Thanks.

it is very possible to get a virus on Linux. The thing is its not very widely used so most people don't take the time to code one. plus if you don't work on your root account then the virus wont do to much anyway.

Would you happen to have a link to direct download?
Thank you very much.

Arch is definitely not for beginners.
There is malware which can infect the Linux kernel, but no Windows virus can do that. You're generally a lot safer using Linux.
Here's a few distro's recommended for beginners,

Sorry, he's right, Arch Linux isn't for beginners. Habitual to recommend it. Go with Mint.

Truth.
Mint is a lot easier, really.
Mint is more intuitive for beginners, so would recommend you to go with it!
