So, I’ve been freelancing for a couple of years now, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s how unpredictable income can really throw a wrench in budgeting plans.

When you can’t count on a steady paycheck, it’s crucial to have a flexible budget that can adapt to those leaner months. I’ve started by identifying my non-negotiable expenses (like rent and bills) and made sure to cover those first. Then, I set aside a percentage for savings whenever I have a good month.

One trick that’s worked for me is to live on last month’s income. It gives a buffer and helps avoid the panic when a payment is late. I've also picked up some side gigs that provide a more regular cash flow.

How do you guys manage your budgets with such uncertain incomes? Any tips or strategies that you've found helpful? Let’s swap ideas!
