Life can throw many curveballs at us and it’s alright to acknowledge that we can sometimes struggle mentally. I want to share some simple yet effective ways to uplift your mood and better your mental health. Studies show that staying physically active, eating a balanced diet, getting enough sleep, connecting with your loved ones, and practicing mindfulness can do a world of good to our mental health. A personal favourite of mine has been journaling. Transferring your thoughts and feelings on paper often brings clarity and provides a certain cathartic experience. It gives you a chance to self-reflect and tackle any unsettling thoughts. Has anyone else tried journa…

We often hear about physical health and the different ways we can take care of our bodies. But what about our minds? How do we make sure we’re paying attention to what goes on inside our thoughts, our emotions, and our perceptions of ourselves? One of the best things about this forum is the diverse range of experiences, perspectives, and personal stories that each one of us brings. Talking about mental health is still quite stigmatized in many parts of the world. Even in places where it’s becoming more accepted, opening up about our own struggles can still feel incredibly challenging. So let’s create a safe, supportive space where we can anonymously share our exp…

Today, I wanted to address something we all grapple with from time to time - our mental and emotional wellbeing. Isn’t it strange how despite living in an age where connecting with others is literally at our fingertips, feelings of isolation can still seem overwhelming? In my journey, I’ve found that sharing my thoughts and emotions can be surprisingly therapeutic. It’s almost as if in opening up about our struggles, we inadvertently discover we’re not alone. And it’s okay to feel what we’re feeling - the ups, the downs and everything in between. How about you? Have you ever found solace in expressing your mental or emotional state? What coping mechanisms have yo…

I’ve been thinking a lot recently about different coping strategies for managing anxiety. We all know that it’s a personal journey and what works for one person might not work for another. But sometimes, it can be really helpful to hear about different methods that others have tried and found effective - you never know, it might be something you’ve never considered before! For me, one of the most effective ways has been practicing mindfulness. I used to think it was all a bit too ‘new age’ for my liking, but then I tried a few online guided meditations and found them to be extremely calming. Carving out 10-15 minutes a day to simply sit and focus on my breath has been…

As a society, we often emphasize physical health without giving proper attention to our mental and emotional well-being. No matter who we are or where we’re from, we all face ups and downs that challenge our emotional health. Can we perhaps share and learn from each other’s coping methods? You might be someone who finds solace in the chaotic harmony of music, the rhythmic cadence of poetry, or the serene touch of nature. Or maybe sinking into a good book or engaging in a vigorous workout helps you make sense of your feelings. But sometimes, the world can feel heavier than usual. Times when music does not soothe, words fail to inspire, nature brings no peace, and …

Last night as I was rolling over for the umpteenth time, trying to get my mind off an ongoing issue, a thought occurred to me - we all have unique ways to handle the high and low tides of life. Whether it’s the coping techniques we’ve inherited from our family and friends or the ones picked up along the road of self-discovery, we all have our secret weapons when things get tough. Many, I’m sure, also deal with emotional and mental health struggles on a daily basis, just like I do. I often take refuge in music. Something about the harmonious blend of melodies and lyrics puts me in a zone. It becomes my sanctuary where the outside world, with all its complexities, hush…

Negotiating the landscape of life can sometimes feel like traversing through an uncharted forest. It’s brimming full of lush goodness but occasionally, it’s sprinkled with challenging terrain. Sometimes we feel elated with joy, and other times we are cloaked in sadness. Today I’d like to open a discussion about our shared experiences in navigating this journey; focusing on our emotional and mental health. Mental health, while a common thread that binds humanity, is often a topic shrouded in secrecy. Do you think society has made strides in reducing the stigma attached to it? I wonder how many of you have felt hesitation discussing your feelings even to a trusted loved…

During these uncertain times, maintaining our mental and emotional health has become even more important than ever. For some of us, this can be a challenging process, as it’s not always easy to share our inner feelings, or even to define what it is that we’re experiencing. Maybe you’re feeling a bit anxious or overwhelmed, perhaps even feeling a bit blue. Struggling with maintaining motivation, or finding it hard to focus, which could be the effects of stress. Interestingly, it’s during these times that we’re presented with an opportunity to really explore ourselves on a deeper level. To acknowledge our feelings is not a sign of weakness, but rather the first step tow…

Many of us may be going through a challenging time, struggling with emotional and mental health issues. I wanted to share some thoughts on how we might support each other and will love to hear your perspectives too. We can all agree that seeking professional help is essential when it comes to mental health. But let’s discuss things we can do for ourselves and each other on a day-to-day basis. One of my personal favorites is simply stepping outside and taking a deep breath. It’s surprising but the simplest things can sometimes have the most profound effects. Do you have such ‘back to basics’ remedies that keep you grounded? On days when nothing seems to work, b…

We all have moments where stress and anxiety seem to take over our lives, don’t we? Would love to hear some of the strategies or coping techniques you use when times get tough. Personally, I’ve found that deep breathing exercises and grounding myself in the present moment really help manage my stress levels. Physical activities like jogging or yoga also provide an outlet to channel those anxious energies. But of course, just because it works for me doesn’t mean it’ll have the same effect for everyone. I think it’s particularly important to remember that it’s okay not to be okay, and reaching out for professional help when needed is not a sign of weakness, but str…

There’s often an unspoken rule that we need to always be fine, to have everything together and under control. But what happens when we’re not fine and things seem to be spinning away? Stress, anxiety, depression are real, and they affect a lot more of us than we would like to admit. You may feel like you’re the only one going through this, but believe me, you’re not alone. I, myself, have periods of intense stress, and sometimes it feels like everything is too much to handle. Here’s the thing, it’s okay to not be okay all the time. You are human after all, and part of being human is having a well of complex emotions. At times, it can feel like you have this storm…

I wanted to create a safe space where we can discuss our struggles with anxiety and find comfort in realizing we are not alone. It’s one of those feelings that can obscure the light at the end of the tunnel and leave us stuck in our own thoughts. Given the current global circumstances, it’s not surprising that bouts of anxiety are becoming a norm for a lot of us. Self-care has been my proverbial life-jacket during these uncertain times. There’s something about a cup of herbal tea, a good book, or simply allowing myself to curl up in bed a little earlier that brings me solace. Sometimes, I find peace in trying out new recipes or just sitting in silence, feeling the rhy…

Good day, friends! I wanted to open up a discussion about something I think affects many of us - managing stress and anxiety. It’s a challenging journey that can sometimes feel quite isolating, but it’s important to remember that we are not alone. I would love if we could take this space to share our experiences and positive coping strategies. Is there a specific technique that has helped reduce stress in your life? Or perhaps a certain mindfulness activity you engage in regularly that helps manage anxiety? Talking about mental health is so crucial, not just for our own understanding, but to help others who may be grappling with the same issues. Often, simply kn…

Despite how it might appear, we’re all grappling with something, whether it’s a nagging worry or a significant emotional hurdle. Sometimes it feels like we’re muddling through a dense fog, barely making each step count, while everyone else seems to have a clarity we yearn for. We understand that pretending to be okay when you’re not really only amplifies the pain and anguish. More often than not, we feel isolated by our problems, and some of us may be uncomfortable discussing them in person or fearful of being judged. But here’s the thing: it’s okay not to be okay all the time. It’s okay to have bad days, and it’s okay to seek help. Our mental well-being is as cru…

Ever had one of those days or weeks where everything’s coming at you faster than you can handle? Like you’re juggling all these balls and suddenly they keep adding more? We’ve all been there at some point. It’s okay not to be okay all the time. Being human, we’re not designed to be happy 24/7. The key takeaway is that it’s okay to feel sad, anxious, depressed, or any other negative feeling. It’s our body’s natural response to difficult situations. However, what matters most is how we react to these feelings. What are your coping mechanisms during challenging times? Do they sustain and nurture your emotional and mental health threshold? Or perhaps they inhibit your pot…

Has anyone else gone through their day, surrounded by people, but still felt incredibly lonely? That strange and sometimes scary sensation of feeling detached, even when amidst a loving, supportive crowd. This, as many of you know, is one of the faceless features of our mental health monsters. Mental health issues can often feel like a solitary journey. Ironically even though we’re all unique, these feelings can be terrifyingly universal. Anxiety, depression, or any other emotional distress sometimes works like a skilled artist, perfectly moulding our world into a darkened room devoid of any external light. We find ourselves entangled in this web, fighting our battles…

Often, life throws us some daunting curveballs that make us feel overwhelmed, stressed or downright miserable. In such times, it’s easy to forget to look after ourselves. So, I thought it might be beneficial for us to share our preferred strategies for self-care during these challenging times. For me, I find solace in nature. A peaceful stroll in a nearby park, spending some time in the backyard, or simply sitting near an opened window to soak up the sunlight and fresh air clears my mind and rejuvenates my energies. Another approach that significantly boosts my mood is painting. There’s something about the stroke of the paintbrush and the explosion of colors tha…

What were some coping mechanisms that worked for you? Can you share a tip or a strategy that might benefit someone who’s going through a hard time? Hey everyone, I hope you all are having a peaceful day. I was thinking about how each one of us has their own unique approach to maintaining emotional health and mental well-being. Some of us might prefer a quiet walk in the park, a good book, or simply a cup of herbal tea. Others might opt for yoga, meditation, or therapy sessions. I found that my routine of early morning exercise, followed by a bit of reading, really helps me to start the day off in a positive mindset. But I’m always on the lookout for new methods, new ways of self-care and I was wondering what helps you guys? Let’s share our little tips and tricks here, perhaps we can inspire each other 🙂 …
