As tech enthusiasts, we’re no strangers to the proliferation of smart devices in our day-to-day lives. From simple automation tasks to intricate life-saving applications, it’s clear that smart technology is revolutionising the way we live. I often wonder if we’d unravel if it were all suddenly taken away. Where would we be without our smart home systems, fitness trackers, or even our app-controlled coffee pots? I’ve been amazed by how much these devices have gone from being luxury purchases to everyday necessities in such a short time. Fifteen years ago, the concept of being able to control your entire home - lights, heating, security - from a touchscreen device seeme…

Hey folks, I recently decided to take the plunge and try to fully automate my home with the latest smart home tech. You know, lights that turn on when you walk in a room, heating that adjusts itself, and a door that unlocks just with my face 🤯 I got it all set up (or at least, I thought I did) but now I’m running into a few challenges. First off, whenever I use Alexa to set an alarm in the morning, it seems to set the alarm on every single device in the house. It’s become a morning ritual to run around to all of them, turning each off one by one. Really gets the blood pumping, but not quite the peaceful start to the day I was hoping for, ya know? 😅 Then there’s th…

Hey folks, just doing some pondering over here. I noticed something interesting - every time a new smartphone model comes out, its price tends to be noticeably higher than its predecessor. I get that brands are continuously innovating and adding features, but at some point, I feel like the additions are not enough to justify the price increase. Like, I remember buying my first smartphone, the old but gold iPhone 4, for about $400. Now, a brand-new iPhone 13 can set me back by almost $1,500! I understand inflation and all that, but it still comes as a shocker every single time. Do you guys feel the same? Also, when I look at the feature updates, they often seem mi…

Having a real dilemma over here, folks. I’ve been researching the best tech to streamline my home entertainment setup, and I’ve been banging my head over Roku streaming stick and Google Chromecast. On one hand, Roku feels really user-friendly with its remote control and all, but I’ve heard good things about the Chromecast and its deeper integration with Android devices. From what I gather, they’re similar in price and can answer my call for Netflix, Prime Video, Spotify and other streaming services I am using. So, there’s no clear winner for me in terms of cost or content. I do like the idea of having an actual remote though - not having to use my mobile device all th…

I’ve been on a bit of a tech-spree lately, filling my home with all sorts of smart gadgets. You know how in those Sci-Fi movies where they just speak into the air and their house responds? I wanted that, and with all the technology these days, it kinda feels like we’re living in the future. So far, I’ve got Alexas in pretty much every room, which is super handy for playing music and getting quick answers to things. Then there’s the smart plugs, letting me turn off my lights or other appliances from my phone – total game changer. But by far, the biggest showstopper at my place is probably the smart fridge. Yeah, you read it right. Gotta admit, it felt kinda extravagant…

Just lying here, it dawned on me that I’m surrounded by gadgets. I’ve got my phone within arm’s reach, a tablet charging across the room, a smart TV blaring in the background, not forgetting the smart watch twinkling on my wrist, and Alexa who’s always listening for her name. How did we end up here? Definitely not saying it’s a bad thing, just musing over these little (and not so little) pieces of tech that are practically extensions of ourselves now. Anyone else do the whole panicked pocket-pat-down when you can’t immediately feel your phone? Funny how fast that becomes a mini heart attack moment. But how many is too many? Do we need a phone AND a tablet? I have …

When we speak of smart home devices, most of us think only of digital assistants such as Google Home or Amazon Echo. But let’s not forget about smart thermostats, lights, appliances and so much more. These devices promise not only convenience, but also energy savings and potentially increased property value. However, they do come with a decent price tag - one that’s hard to ignore. Plus, there’s the ongoing debate about privacy and whether or not we’re trading our personal information for convenience. With this in consideration, do you think these devices have evolved from being a luxury to a necessity in today’s digital age? On the one hand, smart devices do ma…

I just updated my iPhone to the latest iOS last night and my phone has been acting weird ever since. Some of the apps freeze randomly while I’m using them and it’s driving me nuts. Anyone else experiencing the same problem? Especially on the gmail app, it just hangs in the middle of scrolling through my inbox. The battery life seems to have taken a hit too. I mean, I’m no tech guru, but this kind of thing happening immediately after the update can’t be a coincidence right? Also, the deal-breaker for me is the Wi-Fi. It’s too flakey now. Keeps disconnecting. I’ve tried resetting the network settings and restarting my router but to no avail. I’ve also been hea…

so, i find myself in the market for a new smartphone. my old one’s battery life is in the gutter and it crashes randomly at like the worst time. absolutely fun when you’re in the middle of something important, right? maybe it’s time for me to give the iPhone a chance. i’ve been and Android user all my life but heard so many good things about the latest iPhone 13. they say the camera quality is amazing and that A15 Bionic chip is leading the pack in terms of processing speed. bonus points for that 120Hz ProMotion screen on the Pro models. i’ve tried it out in the store and the difference is crazy smooth. but none of that matters if i can’t customize my phone the …

Ever found yourself in a heated debate over which is better - Apple or Android? Seems like an age-old discussion, right? I’ve struggled with this question personally and wanted to hear your takes on this. So, do you choose the sleek and chic design of iPhones, their user-friendly iOS software, and premium brand reputation? Oh, and not forgetting their seamless integration with other Apple products. It’s almost like they’ve built a world of their own that once you enter, it’s hard to leave. Plus, there’s the “cool factor” that goes with popping out an iPhone from your pocket. Or are you an Android enthusiast, drawn to the extensive variety in devices, customizatio…

We’ve come a long way from basic voice commands to Alexa to turning on the lights. With the integration of IoT and AI, smart devices like Google Nest or Amazon Echo have made life so much easier. Home automation is more than just a convenience, it’s now a reality that integrates technology and services for an enhanced lifestyle. For instance, imagine your intelligent refrigerator recommending a meal plan for the week or your AC adjusting the temperature just the way you like it when you’re about to reach home! What’s really enticing is the responsive web design and interactive interface of these devices. So easy to manage and navigate that even technophobes can q…

We’ve all heard of smart home gadgets, right? They’re extremely popular these days. From smart plugs to intelligent lighting systems, high-tech doorbells to robotic vacuum cleaners, smart homes are rapidly becoming the norm. Fun fact - according to a report by Orbis Research, the global smart home market is expected to reach some staggering figures by 2024, definitely showing that our dependence on these little gizmos is only going up. Most of us use these smart devices purely because they make our lives so much more convenient. Come home to a well-lit entrance, a pre-heated oven, or your favourite tune playing softly in the background, all possible with a few simple …

Well, there I was, face glowing in the dark as I sat up late tinkering with the new iOS update. And you know what hit me? It’s been years since we’ve seen any real groundbreaking innovation in smartphones. Seems to me like it’s all become kinda… predictable? Remember when we first got touch screens? Or when Siri came into our lives and we realized we could just talk to our phone instead of typing? Those were times when every new phone felt truly edgy. Full of features we never thought we’d need and now can’t live without. Heck, I even remember my first Motorola Razr and that feeling when I flipped it open like some high-tech superhero. Don’t get me wrong, the tech…

You know, sometimes I just sit here and wonder how drastically our lives have changed in the last couple of decades. I mean, can you imagine waking up without fingers idly reaching for the phone first thing in the morning? Or running errands or driving around without a handy GPS app to guide you? It’s like we’re living in a sci-fi novel, isn’t it? Now, I must confess, I was a bit of a late bloomer when it came to smart devices. I got my first smartphone in the late 2000s, a good ol’ Nokia that felt like a brick compared to the sleek, feather-light devices we have now. And then there was the romanticized ritual of remembering phone numbers, rendezvous with friends wit…

So, I finally made the jump from an old beaten-up Samsung to the shiny and new iPhone 13 last week…I know, I’m a tad late to the Apple party! But now the novelty’s worn off a little, I’ve been wondering, was it actually worth the swap? First things first, the camera is epic. The shots I’m getting of my dog’s zoomies down the local park are top-notch, and I won’t even start on the eye-popping clarity of that ProRAW setting. But despite this, I’m still left feeling a bit…meh? The battery is good, but my old Galaxy’s was better. The same goes for the onboard storage. 128GB might sound sexy, but without the expandable memory slot, it’s frustrating having to ration ap…

Guys, wasn’t just thinking about how fast technology is advancing, especially when it comes to our mobiles and smart devices? From being just a communication device to practically running our lives, they’ve sure come a long way. Remember those days when Nokia 3310 was considered a breakthrough because of its Snake game and prolonged battery life? Fast forward to 2022, where our smartphones can not only run high-end games, but practically manage our entire day, from apps reminding us to drink water, to keeping track of our steps and sleep schedule, and even to managing our home security. It’s mind-blowing how far we’ve come. I recently got the new iPhone 13 and t…

I was checking out the new lineup of smartphones coming out this year and couldn’t help but marvel at how much mobile tech has transformed our lives. Remember when Blackberry was the big cheese? Haha. Nowadays everyone’s got a mini computer in their pocket. These phones ain’t just for texting or calls anymore. We got high-resolution cameras, fitness trackers, banking apps, heck, some even have projectors built into them. Pretty cool, huh? But sometimes, it kinda feels a little overwhelming too. Just the other day I was trying to figure out how to turn off some oddball setting on my phone and felt like I needed a PhD in Astrophysics. I mean, who needs an ‘advanced…
