Alright, so here’s my predicament. I’ve got this ancient Dell laptop that’s been my loyal companion for, like, the better part of six years now. And when I say it’s been reliable, that’s no exaggeration. Despite its impressive lifespan, though, the poor thing is finally showing signs of ageing. I find myself staring at spinning loading circles more often than I’d like, and some apps are slow to launch…or sometimes don’t open at all.
A friend suggested that maybe it’s time to clear out old files and apps, which could be eating up precious resources. So, I spent an entire weekend doing some major digital spring cleaning. But even after getting rid of gigabytes worth of stuff, the improvement wasn’t as dramatic as I’d hoped.
Maybe my expectations are too high? I’m not exactly a techie, though I can follow instructions if they’re not too complex. It’s just that I can’t really afford to upgrade to a new computer at this moment…you know, still recovering from the spending spree of last holiday season.
So, do you guys have any tips, tricks, or life hacks for reviving an old laptop? I’ve heard about stuff like defragmenting hard drives and not using Chrome as it uses a lot of RAM… but I don’t know what those really do or how to go about them. Heck, I don’t even know if they 🤔
