So, I was at my mate’s place last night, having a bit of a chill day, you know, the usual. He pulled out this VR headset, Samsung Gear VR to be exact. I must say, I was a bit sceptical at first. I mean, come on, how ‘real’ can a virtual world really feel? Turns out, way more than you’d expect!
I was blowing up zombies, flying through space, I even had a virtual paintball match that felt so intense I was almost searching for cover behind the couch! I didn’t know whether to be impressed or terrified, LOL.
It got me thinking, though.. With long lockdowns this year, could VR be an answer to escapism for some folks? It sure gave me a rush of adrenaline that I haven’t felt since I last went go-karting.
Anyway, I looked up some different VR kits online today, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Sony Playstation VR and all. But, honestly? The price tags gave me a bit of a jump. Is it really worth putting so much money for this bit of tech fun? I’m unsure…
What do you think about VR kits? Worth the cash or just another passing fad? And if you’re into VR already, got any recommendations for a newbie? I’m especially interested in VR games that give a real kick of adrenaline. And how do you handle the motion sickness thing 🤔
