I’ve been thinking a lot about the upcoming Tokyo Summer Olympics. Without doubt, it’s a huge event that has been drawing global attention for many reasons, including the pandemic. But one aspect that often goes under the radar is how much the event itself has evolved over time.
Think about it: Back in the day, the Olympics were a mere displays of physical prowess, now it’s a rally of the world’s greatest athletes combined with a multimedia extravaganza of dazzling lights, music, and performances! From the way it’s broadcast around the world, to the events included and even to the way the medals are made - so much changes in every cycle.
I’m fascinated by how the Tokyo games will add to this tradition of evolution. They’ve already shown innovation in planning to use 100% sustainable medals made from recycled electronics.
What other changes or evolution have you noticed or expect in the world’s biggest sporting event? What’s your favorite part of the Olympic games? Any memorable moments from past games that you cherished? Let’s celebrate the spirit of Olympics together.
