Parenting in this digital era can be challenging, particularly when it comes to screen time. Between television, tablets, video games, and smartphones, our kids are often inundated with screens from the moment they wake up to their final goodnight. As parents, we find ourselves in a constant battle to maintain a healthy balance.
However, I’m curious what other people’s approaches are to this. Should we go for a strict policy, imposing set hours each day or week? Or maybe a more relaxed approach, trusting our kids to balance screen time with other activities?
I’ve read a lot about it and some experts say that rather than limiting screen time, we should focus on its quality. In other words, not all screen time is bad. Educational apps and tv shows can actually be beneficial while mindless scrolling on social media might not be.
Let’s start a discussion about this. Share your own strategies, what’s worked, what hasn’t, or some insights you may have stumbled upon. Maybe together we can make navigating 21st-century parenting a bit easier.
