We all know smart devices are everywhere these days, from smart speakers to smart thermostats, and there seems to be a “smart” everything. The real question is - are these devices making our lives easier or more complicated?
I got my first smart speaker a couple of years ago, mainly for playing music. But gradually, it started taking over some of my daily tasks. I began asking it to check the weather, set timers, remind me of my schedule, even control my home lighting. At first, I found it super convenient. I mean, who wouldn’t fall in love with the luxury of lying in bed and turning off the lights without having to move an inch?
But as time went on, and I got more hooked onto adding every new smart device in my home, I also noticed a new type of stress creeping in. As amazing as the convenience is, sometimes it feels like I’m spending more time managing these devices and their updates instead of them simplifying my life. And not to mention, the constant worry about being overly dependent on these devices, data privacy and what would happen if they suddenly stopped working.
So I’m genuinely curious - how do you guys feel about your smart devices? Are they simplifying your life or making things more complex, and are you comfortable with the trade-offs? I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
